How the Sand Stray Brand was Born

Sand Stray was created by a native Georgian who moved to Florida and became fascinated by the colorful orange and blue Agama lizards roaming the beaches and streets. After learning the species originally came from Africa and had become known as invasive “strays” in Florida since the 1970s, the name Sand Stray was born.

The creator connected with the lizard personally — feeling like a stray himself, yet enjoying being an outcast in a foreign place. That inspiration led to a beach-themed lifestyle coffee and apparel brand centered around a personified Agama mascot from Johannesburg, South Africa, complete with a flirtatious South African accent and a love for coffee, sunshine, and lazy days.

Today, Sand Stray blends bold coffee, coastal apparel, and outsider energy into one laid-back brand built for people who wander their own path.
